Our services

Weight Management

A practical, long-term conversation about weight, nutrition, physical activity and overall health.

What it is

Weight Management at Flourish

Weight is rarely simple and it is rarely just about willpower. A GP appointment is a good place to look at the whole picture — including the things that make weight harder to shift, such as thyroid function, medications and sleep.

  • Assessment of overall health, not just weight
  • Screening for conditions that affect weight
  • Review of medications that may contribute
  • Nutrition and physical activity discussion
  • Referral to a dietitian and an exercise physiologist
  • Management of related conditions such as blood pressure and blood sugar
  • Ongoing review over months rather than weeks

Before you book

Who it is for and what it costs

Who it is for

Anyone who wants to talk to a GP about their weight and their health. There is no judgement in the room and no expectation that you have tried something first.

What happens

What to expect

01

A longer appointment

This is not a five-minute conversation. Ask for a long consultation when you book.

02

A full assessment

Your GP will look at your history, medications and any conditions that could be relevant.

03

Options discussed individually

Any treatment appropriate for you is discussed in consultation with your GP, taking your health and history into account.

04

Review over time

We follow up. Sustained change is measured over months and having someone track it with you helps.

Common questions

Common questions

Yes. Consultations are bulk billed for patients with a valid Medicare card. Referrals to allied health may involve a cost and your GP will tell you.

Mostly listening and assessment. Your GP will want to understand your history and check for anything treatable that is contributing.

Only with your agreement and you do not have to see the number if you would rather not.

That depends entirely on your individual circumstances and it is a conversation to have with your GP in consultation rather than something we can set out on a website.
