Our services
Blood pressure, cholesterol and an assessment of your cardiovascular risk.
What it is
A Heart Health Check estimates your risk of a heart attack or stroke over the next five years and shows you which parts of that risk you can change.
Before you book
Generally recommended from age 45 or from 30 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients. Earlier if you have a strong family history — ask your GP.
Bulk billed for patients with a valid Medicare card, so there is nothing to pay on the day.
Book online through HotDoc or call reception on 03 5174 6711. Ask for a longer appointment if you need one.
What happens
01
Your GP may send you for blood tests before the appointment so results are ready to discuss.
02
Blood pressure, measurements and questions about family history, smoking and physical activity.
03
Your GP explains what the number means in plain terms and what moves it.
04
Some risk is fixed, some is not. You leave knowing which is which and what to do about the second kind.
