Our services
Support for anxiety, depression, stress and sleep, including Mental Health Treatment Plans.
What it is
When you are not feeling yourself, your GP is a good place to start. You can talk in confidence about how you have been feeling and work out together what would help — support from your GP, a referral to a psychologist or both. If you need help right now, call Lifeline on 13 11 14 or 000 in an emergency.
Before you book
Anyone who is finding things hard — whether it has been building for a while or something has just happened. You do not need to know exactly what is wrong before you book. Young people are welcome, with a parent or carer if they prefer.
Bulk billed for patients with a valid Medicare card, so there is nothing to pay on the day.
Book online through HotDoc or call reception on 03 5174 6711. Ask for a longer appointment if you need one.
What happens
01
Ask for a long appointment so there is time to talk. If you would like a Mental Health Treatment Plan, mention it when you book.
02
Your GP will ask how you have been feeling and how it is affecting day-to-day life. Share as much or as little as you are comfortable with.
03
Together you agree on next steps. That may include a Mental Health Treatment Plan and a referral to a psychologist.
04
We book a review to see how things are going and adjust the plan if needed.
Common questions
A plan your GP prepares with you that sets out your goals and the support you will receive. It lets you claim a Medicare rebate for up to 10 individual sessions each calendar year with an eligible psychologist, mental health social worker or occupational therapist. Plans are prepared by your usual GP or by the practice you are registered with through MyMedicare. Flourish offers MyMedicare registration — ask reception and we will register you.
Your GP appointment is bulk billed. Psychologists set their own fees and many charge more than the Medicare rebate, so there may be a gap to pay. Your GP can talk through options, including lower-cost services.
Yes. What you discuss with your GP is confidential, as with any other appointment. Your GP will explain the rare situations where information may need to be shared to keep you or someone else safe.
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 000. For crisis support at any time, call Lifeline on 13 11 14 or go to your nearest hospital emergency department.
